Sukrit Wisetkaew was born on September 4, 1985 in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Bie’s nickname is “Gumbie” which means dragonfly.
Bie has one elder sister named Mengpor which also means dragonfly. Bie said his father gave them the same nickname to avoid sibling rivalry. Bie attended both Primary (grade 1-6) and Secondary (grade 7-12) school at Montfort College, Chiangmai. Bie’s mom was a teacher. She is retired from teaching. Bie’s father was a former Royal Forest Department. He is also retired.
After Mortfort College, Bie went to Bangkok to attend the school of engineering, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT). In 2009, Bie received Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree, Mechatronic Engineering.
In 2006, Bie entered Year 3 of the Star search contest. Out of the 8th contestants, Bie was criticized the most by the three commentators for not having the skill, the talent nor the voice. But, Bie had the charm and charisma that no other contestants had. He persevered to the end. Bie finished the contest in 2nd place.
After the contest, Bie had to choose from his dream of becoming a singer or go back to a full time engineering student. Bie’s dad wanted Bie to go back to school and drop his singing career. But, Bie’s mom stayed supportive of Bie’s decision . Bie’s mom… “If that’s what he wants and it makes him happy, I will support his decision”. Bie decided that he wanted to do both, to become an engineer and to follow his dream of becoming a singer. Bie studied very hard and very worked hard at the same time. Bie graduated in 2009.
